Let’s All Advocate for Dog Rescue

Have you ever wished you could do more to help dogs in need? We all see those ASPCA and Pedigree commercials that tear our hearts out. But we can't all afford to donate money on a regular basis. Not everyone realizes how many other ways there are to help, or how many shelter and rescue organizations might be located right in their neighborhood.

Let's talk about some of the other ways to help. Did you know most shelters need volunteers to walk and play with the dogs How much fun could that be if you are a dog lover who simply cannot adopt another dog right now. Did you know they are always looking for donations of old towels and blankets that can be used to make the dogs a bit more comfortable? Many also need donations of used supplies like collars, leashes, bowls and pet carriers.

If you have time, supplies or money to spare and just don't know where to find a reputable organization, shelter, or rescue in your area please check this list of Rescues and Shelters. You will find helpful information about rescues by geographic areas as well as those that specialize in senior dogs, dogs with special needs and even those that specialize in a particular breed. This site is updated regularly. If you don't find what you are looking for please check back regularly. If you are aware of a rescue or shelter that is not on this list please Submit the Rescue or Shelter so we can keep this list growing and help more of these beautiful four-legged friends.

Do you need a little motivation, or a better understanding of what rescue means to the dogs that are living out there days in a shelter? Read the Rescue Poem by Arlene Pace, a beautiful and touching poem from the dogs' perspective. We can all do something to help.
